The Coaching Triangles!

Spread the love

Just like a fire has no existence in the absence of any one element (Heat or Oxygen or Fuel) in the fire triangle as shown below in Figure 1.0, the success of any Coaching Relationship rests on the elements of Coaching Triangle as shown in Figure 1.3 which is a combination of a Coach Triangle and Coachee Triangle consisting of three elements as shown in Figure 1.1 and 1.2 respectively. If any one element is found missing in the Coachee or Coach triangle, during the coaching relationship, the intended outcome will not come!

Elements of Coach Triangle: A coach must be skilful enough to establish an authentic connection and based on the bond of authenticity and trust he/she must be able to motivate the Coachee to take action and extend help in a concise direction and support as and when required to help Coachee achieve the goal. Therefore, if any element is found missing in the Coachee triangle during the coaching relationship, the intended outcome will not come.

Coach Triangle

Elements of Coachee Triangle: A Coachee is fully aware as to what he is exactly looking for to achieve in the coaching relationship. In case any doubt, it must be got cleared before embarking on the journey. In the absence of clarity and awareness about the real need, coaching relationships will not serve the purpose. Commitment to take action and practice to achieve a goal must be 100% on the Coachee’s side, failing which coaching relationship will be derailed. Therefore, if any element is found missing in the Coachee triangle during the coaching relationship, the intended outcome will not come.
